Halotel Launches Nationwide 5G Network
Halotel has reached a major milestone with the official launch of its nationwide 5G network reaffirming our commitment to delivering fast, reliable, and inclusive digital connectivity for all Tanzanians.
The launch ceremony, held in Dar es Salaam, brought together government representatives, partners, and key stakeholders to celebrate an important step in Tanzania’s digital transformation. Speaking at the event, Managing Director Mr. Bui Van Thang highlighted that the 5G rollout reflects Halotel’s long-term mission to empower people and drive innovation across the country.
“This launch is not just about speed”, he said. “It is about empowering individuals, supporting businesses, and enabling institutions to thrive in the digital age”.
A Decade of Impact
– This milestone is the result of almost 10 years of continuous investment and growth. Since launching operations in 2015, Halotel has:
– Invested over US$700 million in network infrastructure
– Deployed more than 18,000 km of fibre-optic cable
– Connected 1,500 previously unserved villages
– Grown to serve over 16.5 million customers nationwide
– Through HaloPesa, Halotel has also played a key role in expanding financial inclusion, delivering secure and accessible digital financial services to communities across Tanzania.
