Viettel Group fully owns the branch of the ADC connecting to Vietnam, the landing station in Quy Nhon, and part of the international main trunk. Viettel Networks is responsible for operating and managing the system.

The total investment for the ADC project reached USD 290 million, with participation from nine leading telecommunications groups: Viettel (Vietnam), SoftBank (Japan), Tata Communications (India), Singtel (Singapore), China Telecommunications Corporation, China Telecom Global, China Unicom (China), National Telecom (Thailand), and PLDT (Philippines). Viettel is the only Vietnamese enterprise involved in investing in this cable system.

Vietnam’s Largest and Most Special Cable System

The ADC is an undersea fiber-optic cable system stretching approximately 9,800 kilometers, connecting seven countries and territories: Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan.

Compared to Vietnam’s existing undersea cable systems, ADC stands out by directly connecting to all three major Internet hubs in Asia — Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan.

With a maximum capacity of 50 Tbps, ADC surpasses all existing cable systems in Vietnam and exceeds the total capacity of the five active systems combined (IA, AAE-1, APG, AGG, and SMW-3). ADC also offers higher speeds compared to previous systems.

The ADC project is a strong testament to Viettel’s commitment to building a modern digital infrastructure for Vietnam.

Supporting AI, 5G Growth and Preparedness for Outages

Initially, Viettel is utilizing part of ADC’s capacity to enhance international connectivity, meeting new demands for data services and improving customer Internet experiences.

The ADC cable enables Viettel to significantly strengthen its international connection redundancy, increase the number of cable routes and international connection directions, and ensure Vietnam’s connectivity even during undersea cable outages.

Moreover, ADC not only safeguards network security but also reinforces digital infrastructure to support high-speed, high-bandwidth services such as AI, 5G, Big Data, and AR/VR.

Viettel Networks — the unit directly responsible for constructing and operating the ADC landing station at Quy Nhon — serves as the core entity managing Viettel’s telecommunications and IT infrastructure worldwide.
