This remarkable achievement marks a strategic shift in Viettel Cyber Security’s research and competition focus—from their traditional strength in smart devices to complex, highly systematic technologies such as virtualization, AI systems, and enterprise infrastructure.

During the competition, Team VCS successfully exploited three targets:

• NVIDIA Triton Inference Server, a widely used AI system in industry;
• Oracle VirtualBox, a leading open-source virtualization platform;
• Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft’s renowned enterprise data management and collaboration system.

The perfect score demonstrates the team’s comprehensive security analysis capabilities, rapid adaptation to emerging technology trends, and the depth of research conducted by Viettel’s young engineers, who are pioneering next-generation cybersecurity.

In 2023 and 2024, Team Viettel Cyber Security consecutively won championships at Pwn2Own in the smart device category held in Ireland and Toronto.

Pwn2Own, organized annually by the Zero Day Initiative (ZDI), is one of the most prestigious global competitions for exploiting security vulnerabilities. It brings together top research teams worldwide to compete in the most complex cybersecurity domains. In 2025, the three main events include Pwn2Own Automotive Tokyo (January), focusing on smart automotive and connected vehicles; Pwn2Own Berlin (May), centered on virtualization servers and enterprise applications; and Pwn2Own Toronto (end of the year), targeting smart devices. Each Pwn2Own event has a distinct theme, with Pwn2Own Berlin 2025 focusing on virtualization and enterprise applications—targets that have historically had the lowest success rates for exploitation.

Notably, this year’s competition introduced AI-related targets for the first time. Team VCS’s successful exploitation of an AI platform in their debut in this category not only underscores their exceptional capabilities but also highlights Viettel’s long-term strategic vision in investing in critical future cybersecurity domains.

Team Viettel Cyber Security finished second overall, behind the champion team from Singapore, due to competing in fewer targets (3 out of 6). However, their successful exploitation of Microsoft SharePoint—the most challenging target of the competition—made a significant impact in the global cybersecurity community.

The success at Pwn2Own Berlin 2025 extends Viettel Cyber Security’s streak of international presence at major technology competitions, further solidifying Vietnam’s position as a global leader in high-level cybersecurity research and vulnerability exploitation.
